An incredible discussion has been sparked amongst the football community across the globe late on Sunday evening.
This comes owing to developments in the AFCON final showdown between Morocco, and Senegal.
Specifically, it has been widely suggested that Real Madrid star Brahim Díaz may have missed a last-gasp penalty on purpose.
After a chaotic scene played out in injury-time in the showpiece clash in Morocco, the dust settled with attacker Brahim standing over the ball from 12 yards.
A goal would have all but ended the contest, six minutes into injury time.
Incredibly, however, Brahim opted to attempt a ‘panenka’ dink down the middle, which was comfortably kept out by Eduoard Mendy.
And as alluded to above, the nature of his miss has since given rise to a round of head-turning claims online and beyond.
Morocco’s spot-kick came amid hugely dramatic circumstances, minutes after Senegal saw a goal controversially disallowed.
So heated did the situation become, that the latter then opted to pull their players from the pitch in protest.
It has in turn outlandishly been rumoured that Brahim, as a sign of ‘fair play’, purposely fluffed his lines from the penalty spot.
Senegal, from here, went on to triumph courtesy of a solitary goal in extra-time.
