A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid beat out the competition to scoop the Man of the Match award following the club’s latest outing.
The Blancos star in question? Federico Valverde.
Real Madrid were of course back in action a short time ago, kicking the club’s European campaign into gear in a Champions League meeting with Scudetto holders Inter Milan.
When all was said and done in a pulsating affair in Spain’s capital, the hosts held on to secure all three points courtesy of a 2-1 triumph.
En route to as much, many of José Mourinho’s star performers struggled, amid what was a disjointed team display across the 90 minutes.
Others, though, stood tall, with the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Dean Huijsen and Brahim Díaz able to hold their heads high following the full-time whistle.
But as alluded to above, it was captain and engine room leader Federico Valverde, after netting Real Madrid’s decisive 2nd goal, who went on to lift the Man of the Match award at the Santiago Bernabéu:
