Real Madrid star admits he considered retiring last year

A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has revealed that he gave genuine consideration to calling time on his career last year.

The player in question? Éder Militão.

Stopper Militão is for his part of course fresh off a difficult last couple of years on the fitness front.

First, the Brazilian suffered a torn ACL in his left knee back in August of 2023. Then, shortly after his return to full fitness, disaster struck once more, as Militão suffered the same devastating injury in his other knee in late-2024.

The 27-year-old has since done a remarkable job of not only recovering fitness once more, but a stellar run of form to go along with it.

As alluded to above, however, had things played out a little differently, Militão could have been facing up to an altogether more disappointing future when it comes to the game…

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media whilst on international duty this week, the former Porto talent admitted:

“I thought about retiring from football after tearing my ACL again.”
