Real Madrid star Federico Valverde’s participation in the club’s next outing has been thrown into major doubt.
This comes with the Uruguayan struggling with a fitness complaint.
Midfielder Valverde for his part sat out in midweek, as Real Madrid kicked their Copa del Rey campaign into gear with a 3-2 victory over Tavalera.
At the time, it was suggested that as much came simply to afford the 27-year-old a well-earned rest.
But Valverde, it would seem, is still some way short of full fitness.
The South American played no part in group training at Valdebebas on Friday, whilst dealing with what Real Madrid have labelled as a ‘knock’.
And according to Blancos insider Guillermo Rai of The Athletic:
‘He’s a serious doubt for tomorrow’s match.’
Xabi Alonso’s Real are set to bring a close to their fixture list for 2025 on Saturday night, in a La Liga meeting with Sevilla in Spain’s capital.
