Real Madrid source believes Blancos ‘could have scored seven’ against Barcelona

Those behind the scenes at La Liga giants Real Madrid are of the opinion that their side’s recent victory over Barcelona should have been a considerably more comprehensive one.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have on Tuesday provided a fresh insight into the fallout from the season’s opening El Clásico.

Real Madrid are of course fresh off something of a statement downing of their arch rivals on Sunday.

After welcoming Barcelona to Spain’s capital, Los Blancos dominated, en route to an eventual 2-1 result in their favour.

The scoreline did not fully reflect the balance of the matchup, with hosts Real have been in full control for almost the entirety of the 90 minutes.

Kylian Mbappé was also responsible for fluffing his lines from the penalty spot during the 2nd-half.

And as alluded to above, such developments have culminated in a head-turning claim amongst the backroom staff at Valdebebas.

As per a report from The Athletic, a member of Xabi Alonso’s staff, speaking anonymously, is adamant that:

“We could have scored seven goals against Barcelona.”
