The powers that be at Real Madrid have identified a highly-regarded member of the Manchester City loan army as a potential transfer target with a view to the summer.
That’s according to Marca, who have this evening provided an update on the future of talented defender Yan Couto.
Couto, of course, has emerged as one of the star performers of the La Liga campaign to date.
After linking up with Girona from the aforementioned City during the summer, the youngster has gone on to make the right-back berth his own, racking up a goal and five assists across 19 appearances.
Such endeavours have proven central to Girona’s shock challenge for supremacy in Spain’s top-flight, with Michel’s troops currently sitting pretty atop the table.
In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of one of La Liga’s heavyweight clubs beginning to express an interest in Couto’s services.
As per the aforementioned Marca, the 21-year-old is ‘on the Real Madrid agenda’.
Los Blancos are understood to be on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal, with the Spanish international, despite his stellar recent form, now entering the twilight years of his career.
Couto, in turn, has been earmarked as a leading option to fill the role.
Interestingly, this comes just weeks on from the Man City starlet himself confirming that lining out in the colours of Los Blancos at some point down the line represents something of a personal goal:
