La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have renamed the club’s stadium for all matters on the commercial front.
That’s according to Marca, who have on Friday provided an insight into the situation.
Real Madrid’s beloved home ground, of course, has long been named the Santiago Bernabéu.
Moving forward, however, Los Blancos have come to the decision to drop the ‘Santiago’, with the stadium now simply known as the ‘Bernabéu’.
As much has been highlighted by a string of recent activity on the part of Florentino Pérez and his fellow board members in the Spanish capital.
Though no official announcement has been made, Marca note that:
‘The stadium’s website is called Bernabéu, as is the official profile on social networks. The stadium tour is called Tour Bernabéu and even the gift that the club has offered at its Christmas meetings, a model of the stadium, is baptized without the name of Don Santiago.’
Whilst fans will no doubt continue to refer to their side’s home as the Santiago Bernabéu, those in a position of power at Real Madrid are evidently keen to shift towards a more modern, one-worded title moving forward.
