The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have early this week tied up an agreement on the personal terms of a contract with a leading summer transfer target.
That’s according to transfer insider Patrick Berger of Sky, who points towards Álvaro Carreras as the player in question.
The name of Benfica standout Carreras has of course proven an altogether prominent one in Spain’s capital over the course of the last week.
This comes following widespread confirmation that the 22-year-old has been identified as the first-choice option to reinforce the left-back ranks in Real Madrid’s squad.
The incoming Xabi Alonso is understood to be a keen admirer of Carreras’ talents, eager to work with his compatriot next season.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Real, on Monday, appear to have taken a major step towards landing the former Manchester United talent.
As per the aforementioned Patrick Berger:
‘Real Madrid have an agreement in principle with Álvaro Carreras, who is Xabi Alonso’s preferred choice at left-back. The Spaniard wants to join.’
Talks, in turn, will now be ramped up with Benfica, over the terms of what is expected to be a big-money transfer.
