Real Madrid one step closer to La Liga title

Real Madrid picked up a massive win to move one step closer to claiming La Liga 2021/22.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side came from two goals down to win against Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla in the Andalusian capital.

First half goals from Ivan Rakitic and Erik Lamela put the home side ahead at the break. Madrid came out in the second half and got back into the contest with a goal from Rodrygo in the 50th minute.

Vinicius Junior then saw his goal controversially ruled out for handball as Madrid looked to equalise. That equaliser eventually came through substitute Nacho, who slotted home after some good play by Dani Carvajal down the right.

After a flick from Vinicius, Rodrygo went on a run before cutting it back to Karim Benzema, who fired past Bono to give Madrid the lead in the 92nd minute.

Madrid’s win moves them 15 points ahead of Sevilla in joint-second. Los Blancos are now also 15 points clear of Barcelona, who play Cádiz on Monday.
