Real Madrid on the verge of sealing two €50m signings

La Liga giants Real Madrid are closing on a pair of altogether significant summer additions to the club’s first-team squad.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Álvaro Carreras and Franco Mastantuono as the players in question.

In the case of the former, negotiations between Real Madrid and Benfica have been ongoing for several weeks now, as the former worked to convince the Portuguese heavyweights to lower their financial demands.

In the end, however, Los Blancos have agreed to pay the entirety of Carreras €50 million release clause, opening the door to what is now considered an imminent transfer.

The left-back is expected to be at Xabi Alonso’s disposal for the upcoming Club World Cup.

Shifting focus towards Franco Mastantuono, the last 24 hours have also proven key when it comes to the Argentine’s long-touted arrival in Spain’s capital.

After Paris Saint-Germain appeared to have established themselves as the new frontrunners for the 17-year-old, Real Madrid blew the European champions out of the water with an offer of their own.

According to Marca, a definitive agreement is now on the verge of being reached with River Plate, with Mastantuono and his entourage primed to make the trip to Spain at any moment.

Taking into account all taxes and added bonuses, the fee for the attacking prodigy’s signature is expected to surpass the €50 million mark.
