La Liga giants Real Madrid are ready to battle it out with Manchester United over a deal for a member of the midfield ranks at Newcastle United.
The player in question? Bruno Guimarães.
Real Madrid are of course widely expected to seek out reinforcements in the middle of the park with a view to next season.
A shortlist of potential targets, in turn, has long been drawn up Florentino Pérez and co.
And as alluded to above, this week, the name of one such midfielder has been revealed, in the form of Bruno Guimarães.
As per a report from Fichajes, the Santiago Bernabéu brass consider the Brazil international, owing to his abilities on both sides of the ball, the ideal addition to the club’s first-team ranks.
A big-money summer offer is therefore being considered for Guimarães.
Real, however, will not have it all their own way in the race for the 28-year-old, with Manchester United having also earmarked Guimarães as a key target.
Such competition is expected to push the former Lyon man’s price-tag well north of €75 million.
