Real Madrid looking toward former academy graduate as potential defensive signing

Real Madrid is currently experiencing an injury crisis in defence. With both Dani Carvajal and Eder Militão out for the foreseeable future, the club is starting to earmark potential signings.

One such prospect is Mario Hermoso, a central defender who graduated from the club’s academy and is currently plying his trade at AS Roma in Serie A.

at 29 years-of-age, Hermoso is currently in his prime as a centre-back, and his familiarity with the club and the city could make him an attractive option for Ancelotti’s men.

The Spaniard most recently played in Spain last season, when he made 45 appearances for Real Madrid’s city rivals Atlético in his fifth and final season at the club.

Hermoso hasn’t quite set the world alight in Italy for Roma, making a return to Spain something that the defender might be tempted by.

As per Marca, the 29-year-old is now on the radar of Ancelotti and the rest of the club management at Los Blancos, so watch this space to see if a move could materialise in the weeks and months to come.
