Real Madrid & Liverpool tipped for massive swap deal

La Liga giants Real Madrid have this week been linked with what would be one of the most high-profile player swaps in football hisotry.

This comes amid claims that Rodrygo could make his way to the Premier League with Liverpool, in exchange for Florian Wirtz.

Both winger Rodrygo and midfielder Wirtz are of course in the midst of difficult starts to the new campaign.

In the case of the former, his hit-and-miss form has given rise to just three starts across all competitions. Stretching back to last season, the Brazilian international has now failed to find the net in 28 successive appearances.

Youngster Wirtz, meanwhile, has endured a tough time of thing in efforts to adapt to English football. Despite playing a prominent role in the XI of Arne Slot, the level of his performances in the colours of Liverpool has been some way below expectations.

And such woes have this week given rise to claims that the two players could soon swap clubs.

As per a report from Fichajes, citing Defensa Central, with Wirtz having played the best football of his career under the watch of Xabi Alonso, the German could be tempted by a move to Real Madrid.

Liverpool, meanwhile, on the lookout for fresh blood out wide, have long been credited with an interest in Rodrygo.

Whilst any such transfer coming to fruition remains a long shot, should the fortunes of the two players not turn around soon, it could become a real option.

It is also worth noting that, on top of Rodrygo, Real Madrid would likely be required to fork over a significant sum to Liverpool to land Wirtz.
