Real Madrid have told a former Blancos player that they’re ‘counting on him for next season’

A former member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is all set to link back up with the capital club next summer.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Nico Paz as the player in question.

Youngster Paz of course saw his name return to the forefront of the headlines across Europe earlier this week.

As much came after word was forthcoming that Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur had moved forward with a hefty proposal worth €70 million to bring the Argentine international in from Como.

A move to north London, however, was rejected by club and player alike.

And as alluded to above, over the last 24 hours, an insight into one of the key reasons as to why has been forthcoming online.

As per a report from AS:

‘Real Madrid have told Paz they’re counting on him for 2026: he will return for €9 million.’

As part of the deal which sent their midfield starlet to Serie A with Como in 2024, Real Madrid secured for themselves a series of buyback options on Paz.

Aware of Los Blancos’ intention to activate one such clause in a year’s time, the 20-year-old has therefore made clear to all other suitors that his sole intention is to take his talents back to the Santiago Bernabéu.
