La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Tuesday breathed a collective sigh of relief. This comes after an update surfaced on the wellbeing of captain and midfield star Federico Valverde.
Uruguayan international Valverde for his part sparked concern in Spain’s capital this past weekend.
En route to Real Madrid getting the better of arch rivals Barcelona at the Spotify Camp Nou, the 28-year-old was forced to limp out of proceedings during the 2nd-half.
Speaking to the media post-match, José Mourinho confirmed that Valverde had played through the pain barrier for a full 40 minutes in Catalunya.
Los Blancos, as a result, feared that their on-pitch leader could be set for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from Valdebebas is anything to go by, then this will not be the case. As per a report from club insider Guillermo Rai of The Athletic:
‘Preliminary tests on Real Madrid’s Fede Valverde have revealed no significant injury. He played 40 minutes with hamstring discomfort in El Clásico, as disclosed by Mourinho. His condition remains subject to further assessment.’
