Real Madrid’s supporters have flooded to social media this evening, to lavish praise on goalkeeper Andriy Lunin.
This comes owing to the Ukrainian’s stunning performance, against RB Leipzig.
Afforded the nod between the posts ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga once more on Tuesday, Lunin was up to the task, and then some, in the first-leg of his side’s Champions League Last-16 tie.
Peppered with shots by a game Leipzig outfit over the course of the 90 minutes, the 25-year-old was simply unbeatable, breaking the hearts of the home crowd time and again on his way to nine saves, and an eventual clean sheet.
With Brahim Díaz having been responsible for a moment of magic en route to netting the only goal of the game at the other end early in the 2nd-half, Real Madrid will, in turn, head back to Spain’s capital for the return leg in three weeks’ time boasting a crucial advantage.
And, as alluded to above, Lunin’s efforts have not gone at all unrecognised on the part of the Real faithful.
Goalscorer Díaz, for his part, was afforded the official Man of the Match award by UEFA at the Red Bull Arena.
But, taking to social media in their absolute droves post-match, fans of Los Blancos have pointed towards the man between the posts as their true hero on Tuesday night:
