Real Madrid fans gather at the Bernabéu to aim digs at Barcelona, Xavi, and Joan Laporta

Real Madrid’s supporters have made use of the opportunity to take fresh aim at arch rivals Barcelona late on Saturday evening.

As much, of course, comes fresh off Real securing the club’s latest La Liga crown.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops entered the day’s action in Spain’s top-flight in the knowledge that a victory of their own, coupled with anything other than a Barcelona downing of Girona, would see the La Liga title officially head back to the capital.

And, when all was said and done, this is precisely what played out.

After Real did their part in putting Cádiz to the sword by three goals to nil, Barcelona were condemned to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Catalan rivals Girona.

The celebrations, in turn, have already been kicked into gear in Madrid.

Though Los Blancos’ stars will hold off on their customary title parade for the time being owing to the club’s upcoming Champions League commitments, fans have wasted little in time in taking to the streets, to get the festivities under way.

And one particular contingent to have gathered outside the Bernabéu made use of the chance to aim a series of jibes at arch rivals Barcelona.

As revealed by The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai, the supporters in question could be heard chanting:

‘Xavi, stay!’ and ‘Laporta, stay!’
