Supporters of La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Sunday evening moved to praise two members of Xabi Alonso’s XI.
This comes amid what has been a difficult outing to date for Los Blancos.
Real are of course currently locked in action on the domestic front, in a La Liga meeting with Elche.
After Barcelona made short work of Athletic Club on Saturday, Alonso and co. are aware that they require a victory of their own, to maintain their three-point advantage atop the table.
To this point at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero, however, the evening’s visitors have badly struggled in efforts towards as much.
Struggling to adapt to a change in setup, a whole host of Real Madrid’s leading performers have been singled out for criticism.
Amid this backlash, however, two players have also been vehemently defended.
The pair in question? Thibaut Courtois, and Raúl Asencio.
Goalkeeper Courtois has continued his stellar recent spell of individual form in Alicante, in conjuring up a number of brilliant saves.
Stopper Asencio, meanwhile, is looking back to his best, at the heart of Los Merengues’ backline.
Many of a Real Madrid persuasion, in turn, have moved to shield the duo from the widespread condemnation online.
