Real Madrid facing punishment over Super League involvement

Real Madrid and Juventus could face punishment from UEFA for being the leading clubs behind the European Super League, according to AS.

It looks unlikely that Madrid will be kicked out of this season’s Champions League, however, there is still a possibility that they might be banned from taking part in next season’s tournament.

Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that opinion among UEFA committee members remains divided. There are those who are calling for severe punishment, which would mean banning Los Blancos from European competition for one year.

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has excused Barcelona, explaining that president Joan Laporta had informed him of his worries about the financial crisis at the club.
