La Liga giants Real Madrid are demanding an eye-watering payout on the part of European football’s governing body.
This comes amid confirmation that Los Blancos are seeking €4.5 billion in damages from UEFA, for their part in the collapse of the Super League project.
Real Madrid were of course one of the leading figures behind the push for a complete overhaul of the European club competition setup.
In an attempt on the part of Florentino Pérez and co. to wrestle back control of football from UEFA, the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu, alongside the likes of Barcelona and Juventus, came close to completely revolutionising the game on the continent.
In the end, the project fell short, after UEFA did everything in their power to push back against the clubs involved.
Real Madrid, however, are of the opinion that Aleksander Čeferin and his board negotiated the eventual agreement in bad faith, with no intention of ever reaching a compromise.
And with as much in mind, the Spanish heavyweights are ready to go on the offensive.
As per a report from journalist Jorge C Picon:
‘Real Madrid are demanding 4.5 billion euros from UEFA for damages and losses.’
