La Liga giants Real Madrid could offer up a significant signing bonus to beat out the competition to the signature of Bayern Munich star Dayot Upamecano.
That’s according to Spanish outlet La SER, who have early this week provided an insight into the situation.
The name of stopper Upamecano has of course been gaining traction behind the scenes in Spain’s capital for some time now.
This comes amid an ongoing search for defensive reinforcements on the part of the Santiago Bernabéu brass.
Upamecano is due to see his contract terms with Bayern Munich expire in the summer of 2026, with a renewal, as things stand, looking unlikely.
Real Madrid, in turn, have earmarked the France international as a leading target.
And if the latest word stemming from the media this week is anything to go by, then Los Blancos could be willing to splash out to secure an edge over the competition.
As per a report from La SER:
‘Upamecano’s contract expires in June 2026 and he is asking for a renewal fee of almost 20 million euros, but Real Madrid could convert it into a signing bonus so that the French defender can wear the white shirt.’
