Real Madrid consider midfield starlet’s signing ‘a done deal’

The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid are confident that they have all but put a deal in place to add to the club’s midfield ranks for the seasons ahead.

That’s according to Blancos insider Ramón Álvarez de Mon, who points towards Racing Santander talent Sergio Martínez as the player primed to take his talents to Spain’s capital.

Martínez, for his part, took his place front and centre in the headlines across La Liga this past weekend. After taking to the pitch for the very first time in top-flight football, the 19-year-old responded with a stunning goal from distance against Villarreal.

Long tipped for a bright future at the top level, Martínez, in turn, continued to build on his sparkling reputation.

And as alluded to above, this ongoing excellence could well imminently culminate in the budding engine room starlet being snapped up by one of Spanish football’s top clubs.

As per a report from journalist Ramón Álvarez de Mon:

‘Sergio Martínez, a 19-year-old player for Racing de Santander, is close to joining Real Madrid. He has a 3 million release clause. I’ve been told that Real Madrid already considers the signing a done deal.’

Should the transfer ultimately come to fruition, Martínez would be expected to either link up with Real Madrid Castilla, or head out on loan, potentially to current club Racing.
