Real Madrid breathe sigh of relief as €70m transfer offer rejected

Those behind the scenes at La Liga giants Real Madrid have early this week breathed a collective sigh of relief.

This comes amid confirmation of Como rejecting a big-money offer from the Premier League for Nico Paz.

Tottenham Hotspur were the outfit responsible for the bid, which, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, reached a hefty €70 million.

Paz and Como alike, however, showcased little hesitation in turning as much down.

This stance comes with the Argentine keen to stay put for the season ahead to continue his rapid development under the watch of Cesc Fàbregas.

And as alluded to above, no doubt delighted with such developments are those in the boardroom at Real Madrid.

Los Blancos sold Paz to Como on a permanent basis last summer, and secured for themselves both a buyback clause, and a right of first refusal.

Had the Serie A outfit opted to accept Spurs’ offer, Real would in turn have been forced into action this summer, in efforts to keep control of their former midfield starlet’s long-term future.
