Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has provided an insight into the wellbeing of defensive star Antonio Rüdiger.
Stopper Rüdiger of course set alarm bells sounding across Spain’s capital on Saturday evening.
This came after the German was forced into a premature departure from Real Madrid’s La Liga meeting with Espanyol.
En route to a shock 1-0 defeat for Los Blancos, Rüdiger went to ground early in proceedings, clutching at his right hamstring.
After being tended to by the visitors’ medical staff, it was quickly decided that the former Chelsea man was in no condition to continue, hooked for Raúl Asencio as a result.
As much marked a major source of concern for a Real Madrid side who already find themselves short of options at the back.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side’s defeat, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Rüdiger’s setback was put to boss Carlo Ancelotti.
And the Italian tactician went on to confirm:
“Rüdiger has suffered a muscular injury.”
