Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has on Friday sent a message of support the way of star winger Vinícius Jr.
This, of course, comes amid what has been something of a tumultuous opening to the campaign for the Brazilian.
Vinícius has seen his name dominate the headlines in Spain’s capital for some time now.
As much comes amid long-standing claims that the 25-year-old is unhappy with his status as rotatable in the eyes of new manager Alonso.
With negotiations between club and player over a contract extension having also reached a standstill, Vinícius has in turn seen his Real Madrid future thrown completely up in the air.
Fresh off a pair of successive starts over the last week, the attacker rewarded his manager’s faith with a brilliant showing against Levante, notching a goal and an assist in a 4-1 triumph.
And as alluded to above, on Friday, Xabi Alonso responded to as much with a clear message of support.
Speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s Madrid Derby, the Spanish tactician explained:
“I love seeing Viní Jr smile. He’s a fundamental player for us.”
