Nothing short of a bombshell story has surfaced at La Liga giants Real Madrid early this week.
This comes amid confirmation that Blancos star Vinícius Jr. has informed the club that he does not intend to sign a new contract, so long as his relationship with manager Xabi Alonso remains the same.
The info has been provided by Real Madrid insider Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, citing direct sources in Spain’s capital.
Vinícius’ entourage have long been locked in talks with the Bernabéu brass over the terms of a renewal. As much comes ahead of the expiration of his current terms in the summer of 2027.
During a recent meeting with Florentino Pérez, however, the Brazilian informed Real’s president that:
‘He feels extending is not the best option for him due to his relationship with Alonso. There has been no change in that position since.’
Vinícius’ ongoing frustration with his manager comes owing chiefly to his inconsistent minutes on the pitch this season. The 25-year-old has seen out the full 90 minutes in just five of Real Madrid’s 17 fixtures in all competitions.
Should the situation not be amended before next summer, Pérez and co. will be left with no choice but to take into serious consideration Vinícius’ sale.
