Real Madrid board clash over signing of Premier League star

Those in a position of power at La Liga giants Real Madrid are in disagreement regarding the potential signing of Liverpool star Ibrahima Konaté.

That’s according to ESPN, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

The subject of centre-back reinforcements has reemerged as a central one in the headlines surrounding Real Madrid across the day to date.

This comes after William Saliba, a chief Blancos target, made the call to pen fresh terms with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Focus, in turn, has been shifted back towards the aforementioned Ibrahima Konaté.

Ahead of the expiration of his contract terms with Premier League champions Liverpool next summer, the Frenchman has also long been tipped for a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.

As alluded to above, though, not all in the Real Madrid boardroom are in agreement when it comes to a potential move for Konaté.

As per a report from ESPN:

‘Some in the Bernabéu offices consider the 26-year-old to be a sensational transfer opportunity, as he would arrive free of charge and already have Premier League experience. However, sources admit to ESPN that there are other voices within the club who are not as unanimous about his signing.’
