La Liga giants Real Madrid have positioned themselves in the thick of the race to sign Bayern Munich star Dayot Upamecano.
That’s according to German football insider Christian Falk, who confirmed to CFBayern that Los Blancos are one of two frontrunners for the Frenchman’s services.
Upamecano has for his part long seen his future in Munich thrown up in the air.
As much comes with the 26-year-old yet to agree to the terms of a contract extension, ahead of the expiration of his current deal next summer.
With Upamecano in the thick of one of the finest spells of form of his career to date, a number of clubs from across the continent have in turn begun sniffing around his signature.
And chief amongst them are Real Madrid, and Chelsea.
As per the aforementioned Christian Falk, on the lookout for long-term replacements for both David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger, the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu have earmarked Upamecano as a market opportunity.
Real’s interest in the stopper is labelled as ‘serious’, though Chelsea are also in the hunt, whilst Bayern Munich have not yet given up hope of finding an agreement over a new contract.
