Real Betis star’s departure falls through at the last minute

Real Betis star Chimy Ávila saw his proposed departure from the club fall through at the last on Saturday.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have provided an insight into the situation.

Chimy has for his part long been working towards a Real Betis exit.

As much comes with the attacker expected to find game time altogether difficult to come by in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad over the season ahead.

The 31-year-old, in turn, had this week been in talks with Mexican outfit Pumas, over the terms of a move to Liga MX.

Betis and Pumas had agreed on a deal based on a one-year loan, featuring an option to buy.

As alluded to above, though, with the Mexican transfer deadline having now come and gone, Chimy remains a Verdiblancos player.

This comes after the Argentine failed to reach an accord on contract terms with Pumas.

A move to Qatar over the days ahead remains a possibility for Chimy.
