Real Betis starlet the subject of Rangers transfer push

Scottish giants Rangers are actively pushing to secure the signature of a member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Real Betis.

That’s according to market insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Nobel Mendy as the player in question.

Mendy, for his part, is a 20-year-old central defender, who was signed by Real Betis on a permanent basis in the summer of 2024.

The Senegalese spent the bulk of this past season plying his trade with the Verdiblancos’ reserve outfit.

Mendy also featured on occasion for Manuel Pellegrini’s senior side, though, racking up five total appearances across all competitions.

And his efforts over the length of the campaign proved enough to pique the attentions of several clubs.

Across the summer to date, the likes of PSV Eindhoven and Rayo Vallecano have been credited with a strong interest in Mendy’s services.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Wednesday is anything to go by, then it is another club who now appear to be pushing hardest for the stopper’s signature.

As per a report from journalist Matteo Moretto:

‘Glasgow Rangers are making a strong push between Nobel Mendy and Rayo Vallecano. The Scottish club want the Betis centre-back.’
