Real Betis star ‘offered’ to Barcelona as cut-price midfield option

A headline member of the midfield ranks at Real Betis has been offered up to La Liga rivals Barcelona with a view to the summer.

That’s according to transfer insider Matteo Moretto of Relevo, who has on Saturday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s top-flight.

The player to have been pushed towards Barcelona comes in the form of Guido Rodríguez.

The future of Argentine international Guido, as all associated with Betis will be well aware, is currently very much up in the air.

This comes ahead of the expiration of the 29-year-old’s contract terms at the Estadio Benito Villamarín this coming summer.

A fresh round of negotiations have been pencilled in between the parties to seek out a renewal agreement, but, as things stand, Guido is primed to move on as a free agent.

And, in the face of as much, the player’s entourage have moved to propose his services to the aforementioned Barcelona.

In the knowledge that the Blaugrana are on the lookout for deep-lying midfield reinforcements this summer, Guido has, not for the first time, been offered to Deco and the transfer team in Catalunya’s capital.

Any such operation would no doubt be a tempting one for Barca, with Guido a long-time high-level performer in Spain, and the reigning La Liga champions’ financial woes common knowledge across world football.

It remains to be seen, however, whether Barcelona are in fact interested in pursuing a deal.
