Real Betis star could be sidelined until 2026 after injury blow

La Liga outfit Real Betis could be forced to make do without the contributions of goalkeeper Pau López for the foreseeable future.

This comes after the severity of the injury suffered by the shot-stopper was on Tuesday confirmed.

López for his part pulled out of the warmup for Betis’ La Liga meeting with RCD Mallorca over the weekend, after feeling a problem in his right leg.

He was in turn put through a round of medical tests early this week, which confirmed the following:

‘Pau López has suffered a rupture of the plantar fascia tendon in his right leg.’

The Real Betis medical staff have opted for conservative treatment rather than surgery, hopeful of López being back at the disposal of manager Manuel Pellegrini before long.

According to Mundo Deportivo, though, at best the Spaniard is facing up to ‘several weeks’ out of action, with it not ruled out that he could be sidelined until the new year.
