The brass at Real Betis have set their sights on the signatures of a pair of players to have spent this past season on loan at La Liga rivals Espanyol.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Marca, who point towards Carlos Romero and Roberto Fernández as the stars in question.
Both defender Romero (full season) and attacker Fernández (half season) spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at the RCDE Stadium, from Villarreal and Braga respectively.
And the Spanish duo went on to play nothing short of crucial roles in the Catalans staving off relegation to La Liga 2.
In the case of the former, Romero racked up 34 appearances from his berth at left-back, chipping in with two goals and an assist along the way.
Frontman Fernández, meanwhile, found the net six times in 19 appearances since the turn of the year.
And such exploits, evidently, did not go unnoticed across the Spanish football landscape…
This comes amid confirmation on the part of the aforementioned MD that Real Betis are considering moves for both players with a view to next season.
Espanyol are also understood to be keen to bring Romero and Fernández back this summer, but look set to face stiff competition from a direct La Liga rival.
