Real Betis chief clarifies Manuel Pellegrini’s future with the club

An update on the future of Real Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini has today been provided.

As much, of course, comes amid recent speculation pointing towards a potential departure from the Betis bench for the Chilean.

After the Verdiblancos’ season took a sudden nosedive last month, to the tune of a quartet of successive defeats, it was suggested in the media that Pellegrini’s position was coming under increasing threat.

The brass at the Estadio Benito Villamarín have built an impressive squad under the watch of their experienced tactician, with anything other than qualification for Europe next season likely to be viewed as a failure.

With the club sitting in 8th as things stand, the subject of Pellegrini’s potential departure, in turn, was put to Betis president Ángel Haro on Monday evening.

Haro, though, was unwavering in his response, adamant that the former Manchester City headmaster will be going nowhere any time soon:

“Internally, there is no debate,” he began, as cited by Mundo Deportivo. “When he loses, people can speculate. We are very happy with Manuel’s work. He is happy and has a valid contract. I am surprised that this debate is generated. There is no debate. From the conversations we have it can be deduced that there is no exit option.”

Haro did go on to add, though, that “football is also unpredictable…”
