RB Leipzig will not exercise purchase option for Manchester City defender Angeliño

Speaking to Sport Bild, RB Leipzig head coach Julian Nagelsmann revealed that the club will not be exercising their €30m purchase option for Manchester City’s Spanish defender Angeliño, as a result of the financial impact of COVID-19.

“I think we’ll manage to get into the top four this season and gain Champions League qualification. Even if we do qualify, I don’t think we will buy Patrik Schick or Angeliño. We cannot waste resources. Even if we do qualify for the Champions League, we have a rigorous plan and strict budget that must be respected.”

The left-back joined the Bundesliga outfit on loan in January and has featured 12 times, scoring one goal.
