A recent addition to the youth ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week come in for a string of frankly needless abusive messages on social media.
The player in question? Oriol Pallàs.
Midfielder Pallàs for his part put pen to paper on terms with Barcelona earlier this week.
As much came after the 18-year-old – considered a potential future star in the making – made the call not to renew his expiring terms with the Blaugrana’s city rivals, Espanyol.
And safe to say, this decision has not gone down at all well with fans of his former club.
After Joan García was subjected to vile online abuse following his move across the Catalan divide earlier this summer, Pallàs has since come in for the same.
As per a report from Diario Sport, highlighting the comments section of the youngster’s Instagram account:
‘Insults and rat comparisons have proliferated. These reportable insults were not written by one or four isolated ‘individuals’ since we have come to count a total of 64 messages that are certainly regrettable.’
