Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero is continuing to hold off on making a final decision on his future. This comes with the Argentine determined to secure a move to Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.
Defender Romero is widely expected to bring a close to his stint in the colours of Spurs this summer. With the Argentine having long made the call to move on, the brass in North London have placed a reasonable price-tag in the region of €40 million on his head.
A whole host of clubs, in turn, are understood to have expressed an interest in bringing Romero in.
To date, Inter Milan and Arsenal have been named as suitors, though it is Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid who are considered the favourites to actually strike a deal.
All the while, though, the 28-year-old himself remains firmly focused on another of Spanish football’s leading clubs.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘The Argentine international center-back has been holding off on his final decision, waiting to see what moves FC Barcelona might make, especially after Ronald Araujo’s departure to Liverpool.’
The Camp Nou brass do not consider Romero’s signing as a priority at present, instead focused on the additions of Rodri and a new centre-forward.
Still, Barca sporting director Deco is a keen admirer, and has held talks with the representatives of the no-nonsense stopper.
