Spain are through to another major final, twelve years on from their last international trophy at Euro 2012. They will face either England or the Netherlands in Berlin on Sunday evening after beating France 2-1 in Munich.
It wasn’t necessarily the most straightforward showing for Spain, especially if you look at the first 20 minutes. They initially went 1-0 down against France with a goal from Kolo Muani, leaving the Spaniards sweating a little.
Two goals in four minutes then flipped the game on its head however, as Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo scored to give Spain the lead.
Yamal’s goal was of particular interest, as the 16-year-old’s effort makes him the youngest ever player to score at a European Championships.
Dani Olmo, for his part, also joins a list of players on three goals each who can call themselves the tournament’s top scorers in the race for the Golden Boot.
The second half was less active as France pushed hard to equalise things but were unable to get the goal they so dearly needed.
Spain held out for the remaining 45 minutes with an impressive defensive display to close out the win and ensure that they have won all six games at this tournament so far, whilst also giving themselves an opportunity to win international silverware once again.
