A dramatic Monday night at Vallecas saw the game go back and forth, but Rayo Vallecano handed Real Madrid their first defeat of the season. Los Blancos are now two points behind Barcelona, after a draw and a loss in their last two games.

Stole Dimitrievski: 5 – Had to make zero saves in a night of unusual rustiness for Real Madrid.

Iván Balliu: 5 – Lucky to get away with just a yellow despite a nasty shove on Vinícius in the first half.

Florian Lejeune: 5 – Slipped in the box, allowing Militão to fire a free header for Madrid’s second.

Fran García: 7 – Assisted Comesaña for Rayo’s opener and was a constant livewire down the left flank. Conceded the penalty after a push on Asensio.

Éder Militão: 6 – Scored with a great header after losing his marker in the opposition box.

Ferland Mendy: 4 – Lost possession cheaply on a few occasions, and added precious little in the buildup.

Fede Valverde: 5 – Not the Uruguayan’s most productive night, with most of his attempts not coming off.

Luka Modrić: 5 – Scored the penalty but an off night otherwise.

Marco Asensio: 7 – Madrid’s only shining light in offense tonight. Won the penalty and created two big chances.

Rodrygo: 4 – Missed a huge chance at the end as he blazed Asensio’s cross over the bar.

Vinícius Jr.: 4 – Victim on many occasions to foulplay by Rayo, but failed to create any danger offensively.
