A billboard featuring Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. has this weekend been unveiled in the UK’s capital of London.

This, of course, comes after the Brazilian was this week overlooked for the Ballon d’Or.

Considered the long-term frontrunner to be crowned world football’s best for 2024, Vinícius was in the end forced to make do with a place as runner-up.

This came as the Ballon d’Or went the way of Manchester City midfielder Rodri.

In the days since Vinícius’ snub, fans, players and media figures from across the globe have been quick to express their frustrations with the result, adamant that the 24-year-old was deserving of being named as the game’s standout player.

And, as alluded to above, this weekend, such backlash has made its way to London.

This comes after a billboard featuring the words ‘Does Vini Jr. play tennis?’ – a common social media phrase used when a player is overlooked in some way or another – was unveiled in the city:
