Photo: Barcelona star’s shocking 0.65xG miss vs Chelsea

A still shot, highlighting the clear cut nature of the goalscoring chance missed by Barcelona star Ferran Torres against Chelsea, has come to the fore online.

And it only serves in confirming what was already obvious: that the 25-year-old really, really should have scored.

Slipped through one-on-one in the Chelsea penalty area by Lamine Yamal, Ferran took the ball under control, for what looked like the simplest of finishes into the far corner.

The former Manchester City man, however, somehow managed to put the ball beyond the post, and wide.

As revealed by ‘The xG Philosophy’ on ‘X’, the chance came in at a hefty 0.65 xG (expected goals).

Ferran’s miss has since cost Barcelona dear, with Hansi Flick’s troops now finding themselves both a goal and a man down at Stamford Bridge.

After Jules Koundé directed the ball into his own net just shy of the half-hour mark, Ronald Araújo was then needlessly dismissed on the stroke of the interval.
