Pep Guardiola ‘wants to convince’ Barcelona star to join Manchester City

Former Barcelona head coach Pep Guardiola has set his sights on the signature of a current member of the midfield ranks at the Camp Nou.

That’s according to El Nacional, who point towards Fermín López as the player in question.

The name of midfielder Fermín has of course proven an altogether prominent one in the media chatter surrounding Barcelona across the summer to date.

This comes amid the understanding that the 22-year-old has been earmarked as a leading transfer target by a whole host of clubs.

The likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich have both been credited with a keen interest in his signature, with some outlets having suggested that, for the right price, Barca would be open to sanctioning a sale.

And as alluded to above, on Friday, another of the continent’s headline clubs have been tipped to launch an assault on Fermín’s signature.

As per a report from El Nacional:

‘Pep Guardiola personally recommended Fermín’s signing (to Manchester City). He wants to convince the player, born in 2003, to leave Barça and try his luck abroad for the first time in his life.’

Not only that, but Man City, it is claimed, would be willing to offer up a sum in the region of €60 million to convince Barcelona of a sale.
