Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has this week received the backing of upcoming opponent Pep Guardiola.
This of course comes amid mounting pressure on the shoulders of Los Blancos’ new headmaster.
In the midst of a run of just one win in five in La Liga, Real Madrid all of a sudden find themselves four points adrift of table-topping arch rivals Real Madrid.
Results aside, the general level of the capital outfit’s performances across this stretch has been alarmingly disappointing, with Real’s players often looking lost, disjointed, and frankly disinterested.
Slip to defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Wednesday, and it has been claimed that Alonso could in turn be sent on his way.
And one individual who appears to have full sympathy for the ex-midfielder is Pep Guardiola.
Drawn on Alonso’s situation ahead of facing off with his fellow countryman tomorrow evening, former Barcelona headmaster Guardiola responded:
“Being Real Madrid’s manager is the hardest job in football. If I performed the way I did last season as Real Madrid’s manager, I’d have been sacked in 6 months.”
