Barcelona star Pedri has taken to social media on Monday evening, to send a heartfelt message to the club’s supporter-base.
As much, of course, comes fresh off another major setback for the Spanish international.
Pedri, for his part, was afforded his latest start for Barcelona 24 hours ago, in the club’s La Liga showdown with Athletic Club.
Late in the first-half, after midfield partner Frenkie de Jong had already been forced into a premature departure, though, the 21-year-old followed suit, in alarming fashion.
After pulling up clutching his thigh, Pedri was helped from the pitch by the Barcelona medical staff, before being spotted in tears on the club’s bench at San Mamés.
Ensuing tests on Monday confirmed that the youngster has suffered a ‘right quadriceps injury’.
This is the same muscle which Pedri tore all the way back in August, an injury which kept him sidelined for a full two months.
Not only that, but Sunday’s marked the 2nd occasion on which he has since suffered a relapse.
24 hours on, it would in turn come as little surprise if the all-action midfielder felt as though the forces of the universe are simply working against him at present.
In fact, though, Pedri appears to be in good spirits.
In a post on his official Instagram account a short time ago, the Spaniard did open by admitting that:
‘It’s hard to stop and start again after all the effort and work behind it.’
But, from here, Pedri pointed towards the messages of love and support sent his way by all associated with Barcelona over the course of the last day as motivation enough to ‘look forward’, ahead of his next return to the pitch at some point in April:
‘Even so, have no doubt that yesterday’s tears of helplessness will return to tears of happiness very soon.
‘It’s impossible not to be excited about all the love I’ve received in the last few hours. For you, for the staff, for all those around me, and for myself, we have to look forward. We still have a lot of joy to share. Here we go!’
