Pau Cubarsí injury update provided ahead of Barcelona vs Getafe

An update on the wellbeing of Barcelona star Pau Cubarsí has on Friday been forthcoming online.

This, for those who may have missed it, comes after the youngster set alarm bells sounding in Catalunya’s capital yesterday evening.

Barcelona were of course back in action on Thursday, locking horns with Newcastle United in a Champions League clash.

En route to an eventual 2-1 Blaugrana triumph, the aforementioned Pau Cubarsí featured from the off, from his berth at the heart of Hansi Flick’s defence.

A little over 20 minutes from time, however, the 18-year-old was hooked from proceedings.

This came after Cubarsí was spotted clutching at his knee, in evident discomfort. The Spanish international, from here, was bandaged up by the Barca medical team, giving rise to fears of a potential injury.

If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, however, then fans of the Catalan club need not fret.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘As this newspaper has been able to confirm, the discomfort of the ‘5’ would have been a scare and does not go beyond a blow, a situation that will not prevent him from being available for Hansi Flick against Getafe if the German sees it necessary.’

Barcelona are primed to lock horns with Getafe on Sunday night, with sights on a third successive victory in the space of a week.
