A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid will need to battle hard to maintain his status as a starter in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad this coming season.
That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Rodrygo as the player in question.
Frontman Rodrygo is of course fresh off playing his part in Real clinching yet more silverware on the continent on Wednesday night.
En route to the Spanish champions’ UEFA Super Cup downing of Atalanta, the Brazilian featured from the off, playing 75 minutes en route to an eventual 2-0 triumph.
And yet, as Real’s leading stars played a direct hand in the club’s two goals – Kylian Mbappé with a goal, Vinícius Jr. and Jude Bellingham with assists – Rodrygo’s contributions went a touch more under the radar.
This is not to say that he did not play well, but the 23-year-old is now competing alongside the standout frontline in world football.
And, owing to as much, Rodrygo will need to be at the top of his game over the course of the season ahead.
As per a report from Relevo:
‘This season his place will not be as secure as last year. Arda Güler, Luka Modric, Brahim and Camavinga are also fighting for a place in the starting eleven, and Ancelotti could change his formation in many games.’
Whilst the trio of Mbappé, Vinícius and Bellingham are considered as ‘untouchable’, Rodrygo will need to fight for his place.
