Real Madrid’s supporters have singled one member of the club’s defensive ranks out for special praise, in the thick of what has been an underwhelming performance against Rayo Vallecano all told.
The player in question? Raúl Asencio.
Stopper Asencio was for his part reintroduced to a starting role this evening, as Real Madrid made the trip to Vallecas to lock horns with capital rivals Rayo.
And safe to say, the Spaniard has since gone on to fully justify his inclusion.
Whilst many of his more high-profile teammates have struggled, Asencio has been nothing short of a rock at the back for Xabi Alonso’s visitors.
He has already conjured up more than one goal-saving tackle, to keep the La Liga table-toppers level at 0-0.
And such exploits have not gone at all unappreciated on the part of the Real Madrid faithful, many of whom have been quick to take to social media to lavish praise on their side’s young defender:
