One Real Madrid star played through sickness vs Barcelona

One Real Madrid star continued to showcase his complete and absolute commitment to the cause in the club’s latest outing.

The player in question? Federico Valverde.

This comes amid confirmation that the Uruguayan played through a bout of illness against Barcelona on Sunday.

Midfielder Valverde was for his part in from the off, for the season’s first edition of El Clásico this evening.

With both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal considered only well enough for a place on the bench, the 27-year-old was tasked with filling in at right-back once more.

And en route to an eventual 2-1 triumph for Real Madrid, Valverde continued to impress in the role.

All of this, amid the most intense atmosphere imaginable, despite having been far from 100%.

As revealed by Blancos insider Sergio Quirante of DAZN:

‘Fede Valverde played the match with gastroenteritis and that’s why he ended up exhausted.’

Valverde was spotted looking in serious discomfort on more than one occasion over the course of the 90 minutes on Sunday. This, however, did not come owing to injury, but rather illness.

Just the latest testament to the midfielder’s readiness to do whatever it takes for the Real Madrid badge.
