One in, one out at Valencia as deals closed with Atlético & Real Madrid

The powers that be at La Liga outfit Valencia are hard at work ahead of tomorrow’s fast-approaching winter transfer deadline.

This comes amid confirmation of one incoming and one outgoing at the Mestalla this evening.

First, making his way through the door is Real Madrid starlet Peter.

Youngster Peter has been hotly tipped to link up with Los Che for some time now, after being identified as a low-cost target on the part of the club’s scouting department.

Unlikely to ever quite make the grade in Madrid, it has on Wednesday therefore come as little surprise to hear of the wide-man’s transfer being made official.

As per a statement across Valencia’s website and social media platforms, Peter has put pen to paper on loan terms with the club, through the summer.

From here, the Mestalla brass are understood to boast an option to make the move a permanent one, for a fee in the region of €2 million.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have inserted a 50% sell-on clause into the agreed contract.

As one new face links up with Rubén Baraja’s squad, though, another altogether high-profile one departs.

The player in question? Gabriel Paulista.

After word was forthcoming last week that Valencia had come to the decision to bench stopper Gabriel so as to ensure that an extension clause in his contract at the Mestalla was not activated, La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid quickly moved to take advantage of the situation.

The former Arsenal man, in turn, touched down in Spain’s capital on Tuesday evening, to undergo medical tests with Diego Simeone’s side.

And, 24 hours on, his signing has too been confirmed.

After Peter Lim and co. agreed to terminate Gabriel’s remaining terms with the club, the 33-year-old has linked up with Atléti on a short-term deal, for the remainder of the campaign.

From here, it is expected that the two parties will seek to extend their agreement into next season.
