One Barcelona star’s sale ‘is not being contemplated in any scenario’

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is certain to stay put with the club for the 2025/26 campaign.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who name Iñigo Martínez as the player in question.

Defender Iñigo is of course for his part fresh off what was nothing short of a brilliant individual campaign in 2024/25.

After frequently seeing his readiness to make the step up to a top club called into question the season prior, the 34-year-old has since gone on to put any such concerns firmly to bed.

Alongside defensive partner Pau Cubarsí, Iñigo was nothing short of a rock in Barca’s backline, one of the first names on the team sheet of boss Hansi Flick.

Defensive excellence aside, the former Athletic Club man also excelled on the ball, with his passing having been of the highest standard.

And such consistent brilliance, evidently, did not go unappreciated behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

As per a report from Sport:

‘Iñigo’s departure this summer is not contemplated in any scenario. He is one of the leaders of the team on and off the field.’
